I got this book a couple weeks before I went to see the dark tower movie and I found it slow. Now i understand what it's about and it's good it is the definitive prologue to stephen kings magnum opus. The plot is that the last gunslinger roland deschain is on a path and its told in the opening line the man in black fled across the desert and the gunslinger followed. Roland makes it to this place where he tells a guy a story about how he just killed a town that got in his way and how his horse is dying. So after he tells the story Roland's horse dies so that makes him have to travel on foot so he gets to a way station where he meets a boy who says that he just died from a car and ended up here. So they become friends and go on their journey they encounter witches, polluted people, and much more but also roland tells a lil about himself. The book is a great introduction to the tower and i highly recommend it.
